Hello all, My name is Richard Stewart. I am a math teacher at Hillcrest High School in Jordan School District, Utah, USA. I am in my third year teaching. I am currently working on a master's degree in eLearning Design and Implementation. I think that social software has a place in the classroom, and am hoping to get some ideas on how to get my students involved.

Why Social Software?

  • What does "Shift Happens" mean to you?
  • How has "Shift" happened your classroom?
  • If "Shift" hasn't happened in your classroom, what are some ways that it should?
  • How do your students view shift?

Wikis

  • What are they?
  • How can you use them with your students?
    • I currently have a wikispace created for each subject I teach. I have informed students of these spaces, and was hoping they would get on and post to the discussion areas and leave questions for me and for each other. There hasn't been much response yet, and so I will be scheduling time during class to get them on there and have them start adding information.
    • In addition to the wikispaces for each subject area I have a general wikispace that has general information that would be of interest to parents (not that the student spaces won't be of interest). This space includes embedded calendars that have important dates and assignments.
